Gordon Strachan: Hotly tipped for the Scotland job

Sky Bet make Gordon Strachan their strong favourite to succeed Craig Levein as Scotland boss.

Levein paid the price for a poor start to Scotland's World Cup qualifying campaign and was relieved of his duties by the SFA on Monday afternoon.

Punters have been backing the former Aberdeen, Celtic and Middlesbrough boss Strachan to replace Levein ever since Scotland's 2-1 World Cup defeat to Wales last month and he is now as short as 6/4.

Other candidates in the betting include former Scotland bosses Walter Smith and Alex McLeish along with Joe Jordan and Owen Coyle, who are all around the 10/1 mark with the online betting firm.

Sky Bet's PR Director Dale Tempest said: "Strachan has been widely tipped for the job and is justifiably the clear favourite.

"However, there are some other high profile figures currently on the look-out for work, including the likes of McLeish and Coyle, so it's going to be very interesting to see what happens.

"Kenny Dalglish looks an interesting price at 20/1, given his recent work at Liverpool which seems to have given him a taste for management again."
