Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna flattered by talk linking him with Liverpool

Angelo Ogbonna: Has been linked with a move to Liverpool

Torino centre-back Angelo Ogbonna admits he is flattered by reports linking him with Liverpool and would not rule out a move.

The 24-year-old Italian has impressed for the Serie A club in recent seasons to reportedly turn the head of the Merseysiders.

Ogbonna is contracted at Torino until 2016 but admits speculation of Liverpool's interest is nice to hear.

He told Sky Sports: "It is flattering to be linked with Liverpool football club, one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's very famous.

"However, my contract with Torino expires in 2016 and I like Torino as a club. But you never know."

Ogbonna has withdrawn from the Italy squad ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches against Armenia and Denmark.

The defender was included in a 27-man squad named by Cesare Prandelli on Sunday night, but an inflamed prostate gland has forced the centre-back out of contention.

Prandelli has yet to announce a replacement for Ogbonna ahead of Friday night's Group B game against Armenia at the Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan.

On Tuesday, the Azzurri welcome Morten Olsen's Denmark to the San Siro in Milan.
