Arsene Wenger is planning to start Jack Wilshere in Schalke on Tuesday
Jack Wilshere: Expected to start in Germany
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere will be in the starting line-up for Tuesday night's Champions League clash at Schalke.
The England international midfielder has only just returned after a long injury lay-off and it had been speculated that he might sit out the German trip.
But Wilshere was sent off after receiving a second yellow card at Manchester United on Saturday, meaning he will serve a one-match Premier League ban, and so Wenger is planning to give him a first European start since March 2011.
"I think I will play him tomorrow," Wenger said on Monday.
"Then we have a block of three games and maybe the fact that he gets a period of recovering will be just right for him. He gets better in every game.
"I think the sending off was very harsh, having watched it again. Sometimes, I believe that slow motion doesn't help the judgment. He went for the ball.
"Even (Sir Alex) Ferguson after the game thought he didn't deserve to be sent off. He's usually a good referee!"
