Simba SC, Mgambo in unpredictable tie

Simba Squad

Defending champions Simba play away newly-promoted Mgambo Shooting in a premier league match at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga this afternoon.

Simba go into the game after performing averagely in their last two matches which produced draws consecutively. They first forced a barren draw at Mkwawani Stadium against hosts Coastal Union before Kagera Sugar came from behind to level 2-2 in their last game at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam last week.

Fans of the Msimbazi Street side are worried about today’s game considering that the newcomers have been improving as the 14-team league gathers pace.

The armed forces boys have won three matches in a row, beating Polisi Morogoro 1-0, Mtibwa Sugar 2-1 and Toto African 2-0. The statistics indicate that it is going to be a tough game.

Simba are likely to use their key defender Shomari Kapombe who missed the game against the Kagera Sugar because of injury. The team will miss the services of the dependable striker Haruna Moshi 'Boban' who is nursing an injury.

The Tanga-based JKT side, composed of young and skilful players, is trained by new coach Joseph Lazaro.

The former Coastal Union defender Lazaro has not lost a game since he took over from coach Steven Matata who was fired for poor performance.

Matata was fired after losing five games consecutively.
Simba lead the league table on 18 points while Mgambo Shooting have nine and are tenth placed.

Other matches in the menu today are JKT Ruvu versus Oljoro JKT at Chamazi grounds and Prisons host Toto African at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
