Mark Hughes: Yet to oversee a Premier League victory this season

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has once again sought to bring an end to the rumours regarding Mark Hughes' future.

After seeing QPR suffer a 3-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday to keep them firmly rooted to the foot of the Premier League table, Fernandes came out in support of his under-fire manager.

Hughes has been around long enough to know that an alarming dip in results will spark dismissal speculation, but he will be pleased to have received another public vote of confidence from his board.

Fernandes told talkSPORT: "Of course, we need a couple of results. But we have to be real.

"You could be Sir Matt Busby, Sir Alex Ferguson, or whoever the greatest manager is.

"But when you're suddenly playing with four centre-backs and you haven't had the stability of a defence - every game he's had to change, put people out of position - we're going to struggle a bit.

"I was looking at the table today.

"Nobody is panicking here, certainly not myself. We've been a bit unlucky."

Fernandes, who helped bankroll the signing of 12 new players over the summer, added: "It takes time for people to gel together. There were different levels of fitness and, unfortunately, we were beset with injuries.

"But if you look at how we've played - bar the Swansea game - there hasn't been a team that really outplayed us.

"We just have to be patient, I have full faith in Mark and the team and the coaching staff.

"We've only been around for one year.

"Rome can't be built in a day and I'm not a short-term person, and we need stability more than anything.
